Mobile Apps
Install Foxl on iPhone through the public TestFlight beta, or on Android as a direct APK
Foxl has native apps for iOS and Android. Both are installable today, and both sign in with the same account as the desktop and web apps. Foxl is free, so there is no plan and nothing to buy on any of them.
Neither is on the App Store or Google Play yet, so each has its own install route.
iPhone and iPad
iOS runs as a public TestFlight beta. Anyone with the link can join - it is not an internal-only build.
- Install Apple's TestFlight app from the App Store if you do not have it.
- Open the link above on the device and accept the invitation.
- Install Foxl from TestFlight, then sign in with your Foxl account.
TestFlight builds expire after 90 days; TestFlight will offer you the newer build before that happens.
Android
Android installs as a direct APK from the GitHub release, the same release the desktop builds come from.
Android will ask you to allow installs from this source the first time, because the file did not come from the Play Store. There is no Play Store listing yet, so the APK is also how you update - download the current one and install over the top.
What is in the apps
Both apps carry all three Foxl products:
- Foxl Agent - chat with your agent, with the message bar docked to the keyboard. The agent runs on your computer, so chat, files, terminal and browser control all work by reaching your desktop over the desktop relay; with the desktop asleep you can still read your conversations.
- Foxl Notes - record meetings from your phone with the microphone. Transcription signs in to Amazon Transcribe with the AWS credentials on your computer (your desktop hands the phone a one-hour, transcribe-only pass, so a long meeting keeps going if the computer sleeps mid-way), and the AI summary runs on the model provider you connected there. A pasted Deepgram, AssemblyAI, OpenAI or ElevenLabs key and the on-device engine work only in the desktop app itself, so neither is offered on a phone.
- Foxl Code - watch coding tasks, answer the questions an agent is blocked on, review plans, and start new tasks. Foxl Code is in private beta; an account without access sees a waitlist screen.
A phone reaches your agent, your files, your terminal and your browser only while your computer is reachable. Turn on Keep running when closed on the desktop (see Background service) and your machine stays reachable after you quit the app.
How it works
- Same account. Foxl is free, so there is no plan to buy and no credit meter to watch: credits pay only for Foxl Code machine time on Remote and for the Foxl Relay transcription engine on accounts enabled for it, and a model turn never spends them. The Account screen on a phone shows your tier read-only, with a link that opens the web account page for anything else.
- Push notifications arrive for a question an agent is blocked on, a finished transcript, a channel message and a huddle invite. See Notifications for what each one opens. If you declined the first prompt, switching notifications on for Foxl in the iOS Settings app is enough - Foxl re-checks when you come back to it.
Native platform behaviour
The phone apps are not a web page in a frame. On iOS in particular they use the platform's own controls and gestures:

Android gets the same app and the same products; the platform-specific items above (Liquid Glass, SF Symbols, iOS action sheets) render as their web equivalents there, and Android's own system back gesture is unchanged.
Settings on a phone
Tapping Settings from any product opens the grouped settings list, not one pane buried inside it. A link or a command-palette pick that names a section still goes straight to that section.
The bottom bar is one row for the whole app - Chat, Notes, Tasks, Channels by default
- and it is yours to change under Settings > Tab bar: any destination, any order, up to five, labels on or off.
Setup flow
The phone apps go straight from sign-in into the product. The first-run setup screens - appearance, then a couple of optional questions - live on the desktop app and on foxl.ai in a browser. Everything they offer is under Settings > Appearance either way; see Appearance.
Prefer the browser?
The web app at app.foxl.ai works on a phone browser and needs no install. The native apps add push notifications, microphone access for Notes, and the native navigation above.
